I’ve lived in Central America for many years, and honestly there are very few places in Costa Rica as beautiful as River Road. Early in the morning you’ll see monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws, lizards, and all kinds of wildlife along the river it’s one of my favorite places to slow down and enjoy nature. Whenever I decide to spend a few days in Dominical, I always stay at River Soul. The accommodations are modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, but it’s really the location that makes it special. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The owners are also exceptional. They’re friendly, responsive, and always provide first class service every time I visit. Can't believe this place, right on river road in Playa Dominical. Super convenient yet in a peaceful area. You have access to a beautiful river and can walk to town. The host Nate is super professional with arrangements and his wife Jackie is a masseuse. From the moment I arrived, Jackie and Nate were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Jackie coordinated transportation and made sure everything ran smoothly, while Nate shared local recommendations and offered rides when possible. Their hospitality made the experience feel personal and memorable. The casita was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, with a great bed, reliable Wi‑Fi, effective air conditioning, and the added convenience of a washer and dryer. I especially loved waking up to soft morning light filtering through the trees and enjoying coffee on the patio while listening to the river flow nearby. What sets River Soul apart is its location. Tucked beside the clear, gently rushing Río Barú, it offers a peaceful retreat while remaining just minutes from Dominical’s beaches, restaurants, waterfalls, and outdoor activities. The surrounding jungle felt alive from dawn to dusk, with the calls of tropical birds echoing through the canopy, butterflies drifting between lush greenery, and the scent of rain-soaked earth lingering in the warm air. Evenings by the river were particularly magical—the sound of flowing water mixed with the chorus of frogs and insects, while misty mountain views emerged through the trees as the sun faded. It captured the natural beauty of Costa Rica in a way that felt immersive, authentic, and unforgettable. The property was safe, tranquil, and exceptionally well maintained. For anyone seeking outstanding hospitality, comfort, and easy access to the best of the Dominical area, I highly recommend River Soul. The house itself is the perfect blend of form and function-thoughtfully designed to be extremely comfortable as well as aesthetically appealing. The kitchen was actually usable, the mini-split AC effectively cooled the entire space, the shower was attractive and spacious and had great water pressure, the WiFi actually worked well and you could either enjoy the gorgeous view from the ample windows or close drapes for privacy. And the view of the river from the front porch in the morning was the perfect way to start any day. Plus, Nate was incredibly responsive, friendly and helpful. Host offers drinkable water which is super convenient. There is about a one mile dirt road to the actual property. A 2x4 car is fine, but note that it is bumpy, however one of the better dirt roads we experienced while in dominical.
